Weather-related insurance claims at all time high
Having had one of the wettest winters for a long time and not much of a reprieve in sight, it is no wonder that weather-related home insurance claims are at an all time high.
Weather related insurance claims now account for the largest percentage of all home insurance claims in the UK.
The Met Office has predicted more cold weather this month and with this in mind AKA Assisted Claims have been urging people to protect their homes against possible damage from the minus temperatures.
Weather related insurance claims came to £646 million last year, whereas theft related home claims came to a mere £356 million and fire related claims £408 million.
The message is clear, protect pipes from bursting and look into ways to avoid your home being flooded. Check your policy and make sure that you are covered.
If you do have to make an insurance claim then make sure that a loss assessor is there to fight your corner.
