If you were in any doubt about the devestation that the Cumbrian flooding caused, then this should give you an idea.
This is a short video by Defra, who investigated the effects that the flooding in Cumbria had on the land. As you can see, it has left no stone unturned. The top soil is completely gone and deep trenches are left, filled with stones and pebbles.
