Clean up operations are still in progress after last weekend's floods

Scotland suffered the most damage, with Huntley and Aberdeenshire worst hit in the weekend's flooding.

In Wales, fire rescue crews were busy rescuing stranded drivers and their passengers and many train services were cancelled.

The Scottish River Deveron rose a whopping 8ft in a mere 27 hours to a record 9.9ft.

40 care home residents were evacuated in Huntley and 55 year old Raymond Strachan saw his car, caravan and the entire ground floor of his home destroyed.

Alex Salmond, Scotland's first Minister visited Huntley where sodden rugs and carpets were spread all over people's gardens. He assured residents that he would do everything in his power to assist those hardest hit by the floods.

With winter on the way and the predicted extreme weather events brought on by global warming, people should get their insurance policies in order. Those having to claim as a result of the weekend's floods may benefit from contacting a loss assessor for assistance in lodging a successful claim.
